This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Charlotte is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Charlotte follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The food is excellent! And honestly, not too bad on pricing. Would recommend. William was amazing! Don't try and walk in the main door with the sign, that stays locked. Go in the unmarked red door in the middle. This is purely a personal gripe but the stools and counter seating are hilariously uncomfortable. You get a three inch ledge where you may be able to rest your toes. Otherwise, you're just pushed against the counter with no real space. That part sucked. The food is very fresh, they change their rice every 30 minutes or so. The handrolls were very tasty. We had the set of 6 and two vegetarian ones (pumpkin and mushrooms) and it was a great snack for two.

The concept here is absolutely brilliant, and genuinely something Charlotte really needed. The focus is entirely on high quality and fresh ingredients, and letting the flavors of the fish and the sides do all of the work. We were in and out in 30 minutes for dinner, and that wasn't because we were rushing. We had about 10 hand rolls total, including eel, toro, yellowtail, salmon, snapper, and others. The two sides we tried were great compliments to the rest of the menu. The service was fantastic, the rolls are made right in front of you quite literally minutes after you order. Theres a good variety of rolls, not too many to be overwhelming, but a limited menu is always appreciated. I hate we missed out on the black sesame soft serve, but that just gives us a reason to come back soon!

A gem in the neighborhood. High quality, simple, small menu and very delicious. From the wonderful nori the perfect rice and fresh fish. Expertly done with great attention to detail and care. Real wasabi root, grated fresh. No shortcuts here. Chef owned, and that level of passion and clarity of vision is fully on display. Awesome. A favorite new spot.

Dined and dashed… literally. At the newly opened Sharigato at The Joinery, there are no checks to wait for and no awkward hand-raising to flag down a server. Just scan a QR code, open your tab, order at your own pace, and pay when you’re ready. It’s one of the smoothest dining experiences I’ve had in Charlotte. I kicked things off with a bowl of miso soup that packed way more flavor than expected. It came with tofu, radish, and a seasonal vegetable and set the tone for the meal. Next I ordered the six-piece hand roll set ($35), which included Toro, Salmon, Scallop, Blue Crab, Lobster, and Yellowtail (which disappeared before I remembered to take a photo). These are not the tiny hand rolls you might be picturing. They’re generously sized, packed with fish or vegetable and perfectly cooked rice, and surprisingly filling. The hand rolls came out one by one so the nori never got soggy and delivered the ultimate ASMR crunch. What stood out most was how polished the experience felt. I’ve eaten at several hand roll bars in New York City, and Sharigato holds its own. The space is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and every bite tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The entire concept feels so unique that it honestly seems like something you’d expect to find in New York City rather than Charlotte. We especially loved the bright red door & hand-washing station right at the entrance. The hand rolls were absolutely delicious, fresh, and expertly prepared. Every bite was amazing. The staff was also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. My husband and I loved every minute of our visit and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re looking for a special experience in Charlotte!
